Objective:To study the relationship between cell adhesion molecule E-Cadherin and cytoplasma protein β-catenin expression and their biological behavior of gastic cancer. Methods:The levels of E-cadherin and β-catenin expression were determined in 80 cases of curative resected fresh gastric cancers tissues with S-P immunohistochemicaltechnic. Each cases with peritioneal free cancer cell and pathological was studied.Results:E-cadherin and β-Catenin was expressed positive in normal tissue, but most of them reduce or loss of expression in cancer cells.E-cadherin was 79.9%,β-catenin was 61.3%,signifcant disparities were found for E-CD and β-CA with clinical stage, serial type, invasive depth, peritioneal free camcer cell and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),tissue growth pattern and tissue differentiation(P<0.05).Conclusions:E-CD and β-CA were closely associated with peritoneal metastasis-related factors in gastric Cancer.E-CD and β-CA were closely associated with lymph node metastasis and clinical TNM stage. This implied that E-CD and β-CA had prognostic value to some degree and favoring prognosis determination.
