Abstract:Objective To study the effect of locking proximal humerus plate(LPHP)for treatment of proximal humeral fracturesMethods The follow\|up data of 39 cases treated with LPHP for proximal humeral fractures collected from March 2007 to February 2011 which includes 20 cases for male patients and 16 for female patients with age range of thirty\|one to eighty\|four and average age of fifty\|three point sixAccording to Neer classification, part two fractures of proximal humeral are(n=13),part three(n=20)and part four(n=6)Operations were performed within 3 to 10 days,53 days for average, after the injuryResults The follow up of the 39 cases lasted 17.5 months for average(ranging from 12 to 24 months)Fracture healings were observed in all cases with mean healing time 12 weeks (ranging from 8 to 24 weeks)Assessed by Neer scoring system, there were 29 cases rating with excellent,8 cases with good,1 case with acceptable and 1 case with badThe rate of excellent and good was 94.8%Conclusion Locking proximal humerus plate showed good results for the treatment of proximal humeral fracturesThe use of LPHP was good for functional training of shoulder joint at the early stage
