ObjectiveTo investigate the high dose of N\|acetylcysteine(NAC) for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.Methods80 patients met the inclusion criteria of the COPD were randomly divided into treatment group (42 cases) and control group (38 cases). In the treatment group, based on the routine treatment,N acetylcysteine was combined with 600 mg 3/d for consecutively 3 months;in the control group, only routine treatment was received for 3 months. The changes of respiratory function were observed between the two groups.ResultsAfter 2 months,1st second forced expiratory volume, forced vital capacity of oxygen partial pressure (PaO2) and partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PCO2) in the treatment group were improved significantly than before (P<005),those were no significantly improved in the control group (P>005).ConclusionBased on the conventional treatment, high dose of NAC being used for COPD,can significantly improve lung function and prognosis of the patients.Key Words:High dose N\|acetylcysteine;Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;Pulmonary function
