Abstract：ObjectiveStudy on the effects of body weight loss in benign prostatic hyperplasia caused by lower urinary tract symptoms（LUTS）and prostate volume（PV）MethodWe collected 178 BPH cases of more than 60\|year\|old with metabolic syndrome（MS）were divided into 115 cases of abdominal obesity group and 63 cases of non abdominal obesity group according to body mass index and waist circumference Abdominal obesity group were randomly divided into group A and group B，non abdominal obesity by the same method divided into group C and D Blood glucose，blood lipids，hormones，PSA，liver function，renal function and PV，evaluation LUTS，International Prostate Symptom Score（IPSS）of all patients were detected before and after treatment In group A and C，the body weight reduced through diet or increased exercise except with conventional treatment，in group B and D did not control the body weight only with conventional treatment Prostatic hyperplasia index changes in the 4 groups were observed after 12 months ResultAfter 12 months of intervention，body mass index，waist circumference，TG，HDL\|C，IPSS score and prostate volume in patients of 4 groups were compared，the difference was statistically significant（P＜005）Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed  the increase of HDL\|C level was significantly negative correlation with prostate volume reduction，the decreasing of body mass index，waist circumference were positively correlated with the reduction of prostate volume ConclusionControl weight on the basis of conventional treatment can not only reduced abdominal circumference and improve insulin resistance，but also reduce the LUTS and PVKey Words:Benign prostatic hyperplasia；Metabolic syndrome；Weight control
