Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of waist-to-height ratio (WHtR)in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)related high-risk population. Methods T2DM census populations with no diabetes history in 4 communities in Shougang were selected, and 6072 patients were randomly selected according to the results of oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT), 3036 male and female each. Among them, 3,080 cases in normal glucose tolerance, 2992 cases in sugar-regulated group (including impaired fasting glucose and glucose tolerance). Logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curves were used to compare the value of body mass index(BMI), waist-to-hip ratio(WHR)and waist-height ratio(WHtR)in obesity evaluation indicators for high-risk population screening in T2DM. Results Logistic regression analysis showed that BMI, WHR, WHtR was positively correlated with T2DM related high-risk population(P<0.05). When WHtR was used as the predictor variable, the larger area under the corresponding ROC curve(AUC)indicated that the screening effect was better. Conclusion WHtR is superior to BMI and WHR in prediction of T2DM related high-risk populations.
